Danyelle Barlow, a consultant for Child and Family Connections #13, in Macomb, IL, has been awarded the “Backstage Gem” award for her work. Barlow, a Social Emotional Consultant, was honored at the Child and Family Connections (CFC) South Conference in Fairview Heights, April 27.
According to the nomination, the Backstage Gem award recognizes an individual “whose quiet daily organization or management makes everything go smoothly for everyone else. Without the efforts of this person, there would be utter chaos.”
Danyelle truly exemplifies what it means to be a backstage gem and I was pleased to nominate her for this award” said Chuck Farr, Executive Director for Child and Family Connections #13.
Eleven CFC’s attended the southern conference and there were many nominations for the four awards given. We are very excited that Danyelle was chosen for the Backstage Gem Award,” Farr added.
Child and Family Connections (CFC) is the entry point for all referrals of children to the Illinois Early Intervention System. The Early Intervention (EI) system provides services for infants and toddlers who have delays in their development or who are at risk of developmental delays.
Child and Family Connections #13 is part of the range of services provided through the Regional Office of Education #26 (ROE26) and is located at 130 South Lafayette, Suite 200, Macomb, IL. Phone number is 1-866-426-2160 or 309/575-3242.
The EI system provides staff and support to teach families how to play and interact with their children in ways that help them learn essential skills. Services that a child receives are based on the individual needs. They may include: developmental therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, occupation therapy, social work, psychological counseling, medical diagnostics, audiology and aural rehabilitation, vision services, family support and other services.
Barlow previously worked in Early Intervention as a service coordinator at CFC 13 and then moved to Florida where she continued to work in their Early Intervention Program through Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System. She moved back to Illinois in 2006 and was hired as CFC 13's Social Emotional Consultant.
According to Farr, she quickly became an integral part of the CFC, personifying what a true Collaborator is.
He explained that Barlow works with each Service Coordinator and also helps find services outside of Early Intervention if necessary to meet the needs of the families served.
She also collaborates with providers and is available for any questions or suggestions. In addition, she helps with trainings and has led some of the trainings sponsored by CFC #13.
